FEATURED: A very elegant and timeless example of Mid Century design, this sophisticated, interesting brass 5-arm pendant chandelier, with large pierced brass bowls containing lights, looking very much like Paavo Tynell's fabulous designs, is really the statement chandelier in any room anywhere. Created in the early 1950's, probably by Lightolier during the Gerald Thurston era in the USA, this sensuous beauty has its ten original clear glass ball drops hanging from curved brass loops above the bowls, catching light and adding addition gleam and glow to the rich brass of this chandelier. It was originally found in a location ( the Calla Mar Manor Restaurant, a Mafia meeting place owned by Jimmy Prato, a local Mob Boss, for those of you into The Offer and Godfather books) near Youngstown, Ohio which was decorated in 1954 and then not re-done until this, and its three mates, were removed for building remodeling this year. It has its original wiring, which does work at this point; we of course would highly recommend the buyer have it inspected by his/her electrician for safety before hard-wiring into the ceiling. We loved the large 6.25-inch bowls, which hide a standard light bulb inside, and we really loved the decorative piercing around the rims, which add even more interest to this gorgeous creation. And then there are those curving brass arms, holding out the bowls, and dangling those glass drops down- what a wowza of a piece! It looks as if it was created today, yet goes way back to the early Mid Century years of the atomic age and those early cool, fabulous sleek designs people flipped over- and are still flipping over today! This dreamboat of a pendant chandelier will look gorgeous in any decor and really in any room...want a fabulous light for that bath suite? the bedroom? the dining room? the foyer? Yes, yes, yes, and yes, this will be so cool in all! Rare item to find, and even rarer to find in such great condition, this chandelier is what your very envious friends will wish they had found first, and what your home will love you for finding for it, we promise you!MEASURES: 24 inches across, with a 15 inch drop to the center knob on the bottom, made of brass, with 5 arms, each holding a large decoratively pierced bowl and concealed light socket, designed to be hard-wired into the ceiling, so no on-off switch on it. Has a length of original brass chain included, as well as the original ceiling plate. We believe this is a Lightolier product, very much in the style of Paavo Tynell, but specific designer has not been confirmed. In original state, with original wiring and sockets, removed from restaurant in Ohio where it had been installed in 1954 and was still hanging when we found these. We flipped the light switch in the room and they all lit up! In good condition, with some normal very minor age and wear to it; we would recommend buyer have an electrician inspect this before permanently installing, as the item dates to the early 50's, for safety. Lights all do work now, wiring is not cracked, frayed. A beautiful, timeless and elegant chandelier which would grace any room, any decor with its style and look, and offer wonderful lighting for your room as well as being a great example of how fabulous those early Mid Century years were!
