    Description

    ANTIQUE 18th century EXTREMELY FINE EARLY WROUGHT IRON PAIR OF CANDLE HOLDERS. Measures 11" Tall and 6 1 2" wide at the legs. Has three arched legs with flat penny feet.   Very Nice old color and great design with old surface and patina. All hand made by a blacksmith. Amazing to find the pair still together. These would have been very prized and were well taken care of. Outstanding example of Early American Lighting! Wonderful addition to your collection.
    - there were only so many forms of lighting inside the home - The fire place was a big one - Then there was the tallow candle. - other forms were crude lighting including the rush light that burned cut greens reeds soaked in grease and the crude primitive lamps such as the betty lard burning lamps.
