    DATED 1871
    approximately 6.1/2 x 5.1/4 inches
    Provenance:
    From a group of documents and letters from Soloman L. Hoge.  Soloman Lafayette Hoge was born on July 11, 1836, and died on February 23, 1909.  He found and was wounded in the Civil War, where he gained the rank of Brevet Major in 1865.  After the war, he became a Brigadier General in the National Guard of South Carolina.  He was elected a Representative to Congress from South Carolina, serving from 1869 to 1871 and from 1877.  Please look at my other listings for more items from this archive.  The name Hoge will appear in all associated listings.  I happily combine shipping.
