Antique Ceiling Light Fixture.
Amazing antique ceiling light fixture in need of restoration. This is a large fixture. The globe is approximately 15 inches wide and 22 inches tall excluding the chain and the piece that hangs off the bottoms of the globe.
This consist of multiple pieces.
There is a ceiling canopy that is two parts. There is an embossed iron ring that sits against the ceiling. Next is a brass canopy. This attached to a heavy changing that leads to the metal, possibly brass but currently painted light fixture itself.
There is a crown, likely made of plaster that sits on top of the light fixture. It is in overall good condition but is missing one of the points. See photos.
Next is the amazing globe. It is large and in overall good condition. It has a design printed or painted on it. There are areas of loss to the design.
There is a small crack in the bottom of the dome. See photos. It doesn’t jeopardize the structure of the globe and is barely noticeable. I don’t think it would be noticeable hanging.
There is a wooden/composite tassel that hangs off the bottom of the globe.
This light needs restoration. All the metal pieces need the paint removed and metal/brass cleaned.polished/repainted whatever you choose. The globe needs a lot more cleaning. The crown needs a thorough cleaning and ideally restoration of the missing point.
When I found this light it had been in a barn/shed in a box that had been rained on and had multiple aniamals nest in it. It was filthy. I have cleaned it a lot but I don’t want to risk losing part of the finish in the process so I am leaving it as you see it. Be aware that it still needs cleaning.
I was advised from the person that I bought this from that it came from an auction at the old Reidsville NC counrthouse before it was converted to the current police station and that was approximately 30-35 years ago. I have several others that came with this that I will be listing.
This light has amazing potential. It looks amazing hanging in my workroom.
