    Description

This early out-of-print book is a compilation of early reproduced lamp catalogues.
LAMPS AND OTHER LIGHTING DEVICES 1850-1906
    , Pyne Press 1972.
Pictured in black-and-white are solar lamps, gas chandeliers, brackets and fixtures, brass mechanical kerosene lamps, chandeliers and lanterns, student lamps, glass kerosene banquet, stand, hand and footed hand lamps, fonts, globes and chimneys, and fancy decorated glass vase (“Gone With the Wind”) lamps.  The following catalogues were reproduced for this book: Archer & Warner 1850; Cornelius & Sons c1875; Hitchcock Lamp Co. 1887; King Glass Co. c1890; Bellaire Goblet Co. 1891; Macbeth-Evans Glass Co. c1900; and Fostoria Glass Co. 1906.  There is a concise narrative that gives an historical introduction to the lamps of this period.  Given the reproduced original catalogues, the manufacturer’s model number, product name, dimensions, and more are often identified.  This is an indispensable reference book for the serious collector or dealer of lamps and other early lighting devices.
