    Description

This the ideal fixture to show case the Steuben shades (or any other good shades) against the back ground of the bronze like patina. The patina is in the brass metal not painted on. The shades are about 5" tall and flare out to 4.5". The aluminum oxide stamp used by Steuben is mostly there on one the shades with the top of all the fitters ground during finishing in the studio but not polished as typical of almost all Steuben shades. Reference Darrah L. Robert's book  "Collecting Art Nouveau Shades" for a more detailed discussion about Steuben shades and why the aluminum oxide stamp is sometimes missing due to over cleaning. Due to the closed cup holders, I recommend that nothing over a 25 watt light bulb be used to limit the heat contained by the cup. We are lucky today with the new bulbs that produce a lot of lumens(brightness) with a low wattage that is responsible for the heat. Almost all art glass shades should be protected against high temperatures.
