    Description

You are viewing a FLOWN Aerospace INCONEL NASA KSC Space Shuttle Rocket Engine Thermocouple Temperature Sensor.
It was designed to measure the extreme Spacecraft Rocket Engine Exhaust Temperature during Launch and Flight of the Space Shuttle.
I purchased this artifact at a NASA Kennedy Space Center Auction in a lot of Flown Space Hardware in the 1990's.
INCONEL is an extremely high strength and corrosion resistance Aerospace Alloy.
All surfaces of this device have been precision machined.
    A high temperature
    Platinum Alloy
is used on the Temperature Sensing Tip and one of the lead wires also contains
    Iridium
    .
A High Temperature Woven Silica Weave is used as Insulation on both Sensing Wires.
The basic dimensions are:  2.7 inches long by 0.8 inches wide with a special high temperature wire over 33 inches long.
