    Own a piece of Old New York! This lantern was created by the e F Caldwell Co of Manhattan for the Art Deco masterpiece Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1932. See the original lantern from the Smithsonian website (second picture). Measuring from top of original canopy to tip of the tassel I come up with about 25" drop. Mouth of the glass globe is 5 3/4" wide with a bit of chipping but can not be seen when installed. Only flaw I see is a tiny (less than 1/2") hairline near the hole drilled for the tassel installation.
    Only difference with this lantern is that someone removed the upper lightbulb (which was rather awkward looking if you look at the original image). Glass ahs taken on a lovely purple tint with age. Won't find a beauty like this in a big box store!
