  • Condition: This listing comes from Estate of retired NASA Shuttle Projects MGR. at Marshall Space Flight Center Also known as the "ENGINE MAN". He was also a Key figure in the Saturn Rocket Engines development. Wood Plaque is in Very Good condition and from 2004 after the Columbia accident and the year he retired. This is a one of a kind piece actually handmade at MSFC - (I believe bldg.#4707). I am not sure what type metal the Rocket and Shuttles are fabricated from but you can tell these arent by any means molded pieces but crafted by hand. The External tank foam piece has a couple of nicks on its top and I dont know if it was like that when attached to plaque or not. The Si 3N4 Silicon Nitride ball bearing and machined Turbo pump metal plate piece is from the Aerojet-Rocketdyne RS-25 and in Excellent condition _ ( Bearing ball was one of a lot sent for testing - See report "Pratt Whitney"). Note: Mr. McCool was deeply involved in the 2003-04 Columbia investigation. Please see all pictures.
