Description
The banknote is called "Leonid Kadenyuk - the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine", this is the first souvenir banknote with a vertical design.
The design was created by artists Vladimir Taran, Alexander Haruk and Sergey Haruk. On the banknote, on one side, Kadenyuk is depicted in a spacesuit, and on the other, the Columbia shuttle, on which the Ukrainian flew in 1997 as part of an international crew (mission STS-87). The dimensions of the souvenir banknote are 80×170 mm, the circulation is 50,000 pieces (in particular, 40,000 in a souvenir package). Leonid Kadenyuk is a Ukrainian test pilot of the 1st class, cosmonaut, major general of aviation, the first and only astronaut of independent Ukraine. He was a people's deputy of Ukraine of the IV convocation, president of the Aerospace Society of Ukraine and an adviser to the then prime minister.
The first Ukrainian cosmonaut died on January 31, 2018 in Kyiv at the age of 68.
