Pair Antique 19th Century French Tole Toleware Sconces Neoclassical

Hi,
I'm very happy to offer this spectacular pair of 19th century French tole wall sconces.
These sconces are very neoclassical in form with excellent proportions. Their red bases have subtle, even wear, and are decorated with silver gilt putti (holding mandolins) which are quite charming. The shields and smoke covers have gold leaf decoration consisting of ancient Greek anthemion and bellflower motifs. These rare sconces really make a powerful statement.
They were electrified at some point but I've never tried to use them for lighting, so I can't say if their electrical components work.
