Pair of Antique Copper or Red Brass Porch Light Sconces - Original Glass, Restored & Rewired
This pair of antique porch sconces was manufactured during the 1920's or early 1930's.  The metal is either solid copper or red brass (i.e., 85% copper).  The fixtures have the original heavy, ribbed glass shades which have slightly yellowed over time, and they have a few bubbles like old glass typically does.
The metal surfaces were originally black in color, but they were in rough condition when we got them, so we sanded the surfaces smooth and refinished them in black lacquer.    We removed the finish around the rims and around the vent holes to bring out the red color of the metal.   We then clear coated everything.   The skirts around the bottom of the glass were originally removable, but one of them had been firmly glued in place before we got them and we could not get it off, so we painted it in place.  The other is removable with a set screw on the backside.  The fixtures have some minor blemishes that are shown in the photos:  dent in top of one fixture (photos 2 & 5), some wrinkles in wall mount of one fixture that will not be seen with glass shade in place (photo 7, left side).
We rewired the fixtures with heat resistant wire and added a safety ground wire to the frame to bring it up to modern code.  Heat should not be a problem since there are 5 decorative vent holes on the rim of the fitter (and if you use an LED bulb, heat will never be a problem).
The fixtures have been tested and are guaranteed to work correctly and to be as described.  They use standard base bulbs (not included).
Dimensions:  Wall mount is 4-1/2" diameter; flared skirt below glass is 5-1/8" in diameter; 10-1/2" high; projects 6" from wall.
