RARE & AMAZING Pair of Large 1937 Stained Glass Movie Theater Lobby Sconces

This listing and price is for both lights. These huge wall fixtures were originally created for the York Theater lobby in Elmhurst, Illinois, for a remodel in 1937. The owner of Classic Cinemas of saved them for decades (I am also selling a few exit signs from the same place and era).  Each sconce measures 30" tall by 10" wide and 5" deep. They are crafted from welded metal with a gold paint finish. The sides of them have a scroll design perforated into the metal, so the holes create a design of light. The top has a fleur-de-lis type motif and the bottom metal curls upward. The top and bottom are open and cast light gently. The front is a plate of translucent white stained glass and is in excellent condition, creating a glowing sculpture on the wall. These are custom made works of art from an era when decor was made well and meant to be beautiful and functional, thoughtfully designed with pride. They are in their original condition, so the metal has some patina and paint. They could use a thorough cleaning or restore them if desired. They should be re-wired as they have their original old old wires. I lit them up for display with those crusty things and I didn't get zapped, but they're crusty. Reach out if you have any questions.
