Description
Hand-carved in the Schwarzwald or Black Forest of Germany in the 1920’s, this vintage “gewöhnliche Leute” or “common folks” chandelier was popular in Bavarian mountain resorts and rathskellers.... it is exceptional and will instantly become the focal point, and a conversation starter, in any room. With 4 hand-carved German figures... a man playing the accordion, a woman reading a book, a man drinking a beer and a woman slicing apples into a bowl (for strudel?) They are seated around the Dutch-style tiled fireplace and are extremely well detailed and painted.
The 5 arms of this outstanding chandelier are complemented with hand-painted Edelweiss and a variety of other colorful Alpine flowers as well as the ceiling escutcheon.
The Alder wood pieces are original and vintage (100 years old), but the wiring, porcelain sockets, bulbs and shades are brand new and have all been tested for safety and reliability...you will have no issues, just hang and enjoy.
I have shot the photos with the chandelier illuminated so you can see how dramatic it is. The last 2 photos show it in natural light to give you a look at it when it’s not lit.
With silk shades, the chandelier measures
24” wide by 30” high from the bottom ornament to the hand-painted ceiling escutcheon.
Please inquire with any questions you might have regarding this exceptional chandelier. I will reply quickly.
I pack carefully with foam and copious amounts of bubble wrap so that this beautiful piece arrives in the same condition that it left me.
It will be shipped insured USPS retail ground.
