Description
This is a vintage painted copper porch light fixture.I can’t be certain, but I would estimate it dates circa 1930s or 1940s.
To the top of the finial, it measures 9 1/2 inches tall (23.5 cm). At its widest point on top, it measures 6 inches wide (15.2 cm). The body measures 4 1/2 inches wide (11.4 cm). The back plate measures 5 3/4 inches tall x 4 inches wide (14.6 cm x 10.2 cm).
I must say this piece covers the gamut of different looks. Many come to mind. Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Gothic, Tudor, Spanish Revival and Medieval.
You can see a few scattered spots where the copper shows through. The rest is covered in black paint.
There is a small spot on the right middle side (when looking at the photos) where the finish is scraped or worn off a little. On the left side towards the back on the very bottom, the copper is bent inward a touch. There are a few other smaller bends to the copper. Most of the fixture has tarnishing trying to break through the black paint. Some of these areas have become bluish and others whitish. You can see this in the photos.
It definitely has to be rewired.
It weighs 2 lbs. 1 oz. (932 g)
