This handpan is hand-tuned to D Amara. D Amara hails from the typical Irish and Scottish hexatonic Dorian/minor scale which omits the natural minor (6th). D Amara creates a suspended mood and is both common and versatile. This tuning, also known as Celtic minor, can be used over at least three major and three relative minor scales with almost limitless melodic possibility.
